ABOUT MINNA

Hi. I am Minna Scholten (she/her). I am a Dietitian at Large, working in North Central Massachusetts. As a nutrition educator, consultant, and collaborator, I provide nutrition support in community settings. My mission is to help people navigate the landscape of nutrition, health, and life with a little more ease. As a Health at Every Size® aligned practitioner, I know that health can only be accessed when we attend to collective well-being and social equity.

As a dietitian partner with Hannaford Supermarkets in Marlborough and Lunenburg MA, I offer demonstrations, store tours, group classes, and consultations on cooking and shopping for a wide variety of food and nutrition needs. These services are offered through Hannaford and are free of charge.

UPDATE as of March 2020: I am temporarily out of stores during the coronavirus epidemic. Until I resume in store services, I am available by email for questions and sharing virtual resources.

I am also available for speaking and consulting for organizations, private groups, and community events. Organizations I have partnered with include the John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition, Framingham State University, Massachusetts General Hospital pediatric residents, and the Cambridge Public Schools. I will offer my expertise in conjunction with experts with marginalized identities. Please reach out to me for guidance on finding these folx.

My work is rooted in the principles of Health at Every Size® and I am a member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health®. I am committed to improving access to affirming care, engaging anti-racist practices, and amplifying the work of practitioners whose identities and lived experience differ from mine. My identities and associated privileges include being a white, straight, abled, cis woman with a smaller body. I have lived experience as a person with chronic health conditions and I use this to offer specialized support for people with celiac disease.

I also work as a parent, community volunteer, and roller derby official. I love travel, gardening, and sharing food with my family and friends.

WORK WITH MINNA

My speaking and consulting work engages the intersections of lived experience, the social determinants of health, and nutrition science. I aim to be clear and kind in my delivery, engage my audiences, and leave folks with practical strategies they can use in daily life.

Specialty topics include developmentally-appropriate nutrition education, eating disorder prevention, weight stigma, weight-inclusive workplace wellness, the non-diet approach, and gentle nutrition for celiac disease.

My services are perfect for:

  • community groups

  • small organizations and non-profits

  • organizations working in social justice and health equity

  • individuals or family members with newly diagnosed celiac disease

Whenever possible, I will help connect organizations to professionals who are in larger bodies, people of color, queer, disabled, or with other identities who need greater equity in our conversations about health and well being.
